As many as 147 candidates have suffered accidents throughout bodily assessments held as a part of the continuing recruitment drive of the Mumbai Fire Brigade, town civic physique stated.
While 142 of them acquired minor accidents, 5 aspirants suffered fractures and have been hospitalised, a launch of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated on Tuesday.
Most of the candidates suffered accidents whereas leaping off a 19-feet-high platform as a part of the bodily assessments, stated the discharge.
Candidates have to leap from the platform, not on the bottom however on the leaping sheet held by skilled firemen, it added.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade has undertaken a recruitment drive for filling up 910 vacant posts of fireman. Since January 13, 2023, a complete of seven,532 candidates have undergone bodily assessments at a floor in Dahisar within the western suburbs.
“Out of those, 147 candidates have sustained varied accidents. All the injured have been taken to municipal hospitals in ambulances instantly,” the discharge stated.
Barring 5 candidates who have been hospitalised attributable to fractures, all others have been supplied medical remedy and allowed to go residence, the BMC stated, including all security precautions have been being adopted throughout the recruitment course of.
