By India Today News Desk: The authorities in Bihar have stepped up vigil over alcohol smuggling forward of Holi. The Excise Department has been finishing up raids to cease illicit liquor smuggling. During one such raid by the excise division, 15 folks have been arrested and big portions of alcohol have been recovered from them in Saharsa.
Of the 15 folks arrested, eight are liquor merchants. The authorities recovered an enormous amount of home and foreign-branded liquor.
Speaking to India Today, Santosh Srivastava, Inspector (Excise), Saharsa, confirmed the arrest and mentioned that the accused have been despatched to judicial custody.
The sale and consumption of liquor has been prohibited in Bihar since 2016.
