Delhi Cops Seize Over 101 Kg Opium, 2 Kg Heroin, 6 Arrested

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested six individuals, together with a lady, in two separate operations and recovered medication value over Rs 85 crore in worldwide market, officers stated on Saturday. The accused have been recognized as Lakhpat Singh (43), Suresh (24), Prakash Puri (39), all residents of Uttar Pradesh; Dal Chand (36), a resident of Uttrakhand; Taslima Begum (38), a resident of Assam; and Ravi Prakash (34), a resident of Delhi, they stated.

A complete of 101.62 kg opium and a couple of kg heroin, value greater than Rs 85 crore in worldwide market, and Rs 7.5 lakh hawala cash, have been seized, police stated.

In the primary operation performed on April 23, police received a tip-off that Lakhpat and Suresh would go to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar round 10 am of their truck to provide opium to one of many contacts of Chand, a senior police officer stated.

“A raid was performed and the duo was apprehended. A complete of 5.31 kg opium was recovered from the possession of Lakhpat and 96.31 kg opium, which was hid between 682 gunny baggage containing coconuts, was recovered from the truck,” Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) H G S Dhaliwal stated. He stated Chand directs him to obtain the consignment from varied locations in Jharkhand. He used to hide the opium between baggage of coconuts,” Mr Dhaliwal stated. Chand additionally disclosed that he used to provide contraband to numerous native contacts in Delhi/NCR, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh. He used to ship the cash to his suppliers by hawala transactions by Puri, police stated.
