An assistant professor at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly impersonating Lt Governor V Okay Saxena and making calls on his behalf, officers stated on Wednesday.

Rohit Singh was arrested on the IGI Airport when he arrived from the UK for making name on behalf of the Lt Governor in September 2022, they stated.

According to the officers, Mr Singh had referred to as the Vice Chancellor of the IP University twice over the landline cellphone impersonating the Lt Governor.

In the primary occasion, Mr Singh bought his go away sanctioned and within the second occasion on September 30, 2022, he tried to get his sister appointed as college within the English Department of the GGSIPU.

The matter was reported after the second name Mr Singh made to the varsity.

To confirm the veracity of the decision, the Vice Chancellor had contacted the Lt Governor’s Secretariat, which denied having made any such name and requested him to report the matter to police, the officers stated.

“During the investigation, it was revealed that Rohit Singh, an Assistant Professor within the Economics Department of the University, had made the decision, posing because the LG, for the appointment of his sister Manvi Singh within the English Department of the University. Mr Singh had left India on September 27 to pursue some educational pursuits within the UK, he stated.
