Actor Karishma Tanna began her performing profession with tv’s hottest present, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Karishma Tanna has felt ‘humiliated and dejected’ every time she was advised she will’t get the function as a result of she is a TV actor. Though issues are altering now, but one can’t ensure about getting work.
Sharing how the rejection on the grounds of being a TV actor felt, she mentioned, “It is dejection, humiliation and at the same time, I am confused also that why are you putting any actor into a category? Why can’t lines be blurred? An actor is an actor. In the past, there were thick lines between TV, film and theatre actors. Now, I think things are changing and are becoming easier, still, there is a struggle for a TV actor, there is a perception, ‘yeh toh TV actor hai.’ They will respect you, but whether you will get work, that is a struggle.”
Revealing the issues she has heard from producers whereas being rejected, Tanna mentioned, “I was told, ‘You’re too tall, you are seen on the TV every day, we can’t take you, you are too glamorous for the role.’ When they don’t want to cast you, there can be as many reasons.”
