Man Posts Accommodation For Rent On Website, Gets Duped of Rs 5 Lakhs

A person who had posted a property for lease on a web site has been allegedly duped of greater than Rs 5 lakh by an individual within the guise of a military officer, police stated on Friday.

Two males, Shivkesh Bairwa (27) and Ramkesh Parjapat (29), each residents of Rajasthan, have been arrested in reference to the case, they stated.

According to the police criticism, the sufferer had listed the lodging he needed to lease out on a web site. A number of days later, he acquired a message from an individual who launched himself as a military officer and expressed curiosity in renting the property, a senior police officer stated.

The accused then despatched the property proprietor a hyperlink to provoke the cost. When the sufferer clicked on the hyperlink, Rs 5,20,000 was deducted from his checking account, the officer stated.

Investigation revealed that the quantity was credited into 5 totally different financial institution accounts. Of the whole quantity, Rs 50,000 was credited to Bairwa’s checking account, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ankit Chauhan stated.

The location of the accused was traced in Rajasthan’s Dausa and following a raid on Wednesday Bairwa was arrested, the police officer stated.

He revealed that he had “offered” his account to Parjapat following which the latter was additionally arrested. Parjapat, in flip, claimed that he had offered his account to at least one Khaleed, who’s on the run, police added
