Welcoming international ministers from a number of nations to India for the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stated that monetary crises, battle, local weather change, pandemic, terrorism and many others clearly present that international governance has failed in its mandates.
Addressing the G20 international ministers forward of the assembly, which is going down in Delhi on Thursday, PM Modi stated, “G20 signals the need for unity, a purpose, and unity of action. I hope your meeting today reflects the spirit of coming together to achieve common and concrete objectives.”
“We must all acknowledge that multilateralism is in crisis today,” Prime Minister Modi stated, including, “The architecture of the global governance created after the Second World War was to prevent future wars by balancing competing interests and second to foster international cooperation on issues of common interest.”
PM Modi stated, “In the last few years, financial crises, climate change, pandemic, terrorism, and war clearly show that global governance has failed in both its mandates.” He added, “We must also admit that the tragic consequences of this failure are being faced most by developing countries.”
“After years of progress, we are at risk today of moving back on the sustainable development goals. Many developing nations are struggling today with unsustainable debt while trying to ensure food and energy security for their people,” PM Modi additional added.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday welcomed international ministers from a number of nations , together with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, and UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor amongst others.
