Indore, Madhya Pradesh:
A 23-year-old man was arrested from Indore in Madhya Pradesh on the costs of raping a lady, with whom he was in a relationship, and pressuring her to alter her faith, police stated on Monday.
Notably, the lady lodged the First Information Report following an altercation with the person after watching “The Kerala Story”, in accordance with police.
Khajrana police station in-charge Dinesh Verma instructed reporters the person was arrested underneath provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 2021, which prohibits conversion by pressure or dishonest, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The complainant was residing with the person “after she fell into the entice of affection underneath the pretext of marriage”, Dinesh Verma stated quoting the FIR.
She alleged that the person was pressuring her to alter her faith and was mentally harassing her.
“The girl stated she and the person lately went to look at ‘The Kerala Story’. After watching the movie, the duo argued and the person left her after assaulting her. She approached the police on May 19 and lodged an FIR,” the police officer stated.
The accused man, educated until class 12, is unemployed, whereas the sufferer girl is very educated and works in a personal firm, he stated, including that she had met the person 4 years in the past whereas learning in a training institute.
“All the allegations are being totally investigated,” Dinesh Verma added.
